Ensure maximum visibility in any weather with the Volkswagen Front and Rear Wiper system. Standard across the 2025–2026 lineup, including the Tiguan, ID.4, and ID. Buzz, these intuitive controls are designed to keep your windshield clear and your driving experience safe.
This guide details how to master the integrated wiper functions using the multi-function stalk.
🌧️ Front Wiper Operations
Your Volkswagen is equipped with a versatile wiper stalk located on the right side of the steering wheel.
-
Intermittent & Rain-Sensing: Push the stalk up one notch to activate the automatic rain-sensing mode. The wipers will adjust their speed based on the intensity of the rainfall.
-
Sensitivity Adjustment: Use the small toggle switch on top of the stalk to fine-tune the rain sensor—move it to the right for higher sensitivity in light mist.
-
Continuous Speeds: Push the stalk up further for Low and High constant speeds during heavy downpours.
-
Single Wipe: Flick the stalk downward for a one-time sweep to clear away light spray or morning dew.
-
Windshield Washer: Pull the stalk toward you to spray washer fluid and trigger several cleaning sweeps.
🧹 Rear Wiper & Washer Functions
Maintain a clear view behind you with the integrated rear wiper controls, essential for the Tiguan, ID.4, and ID. Buzz.
-
Activation: Push the stalk away from you one notch to turn on the intermittent rear wiper.
-
Rear Washer: Push the stalk fully away and hold it to spray the rear window. On many 2025–2026 models, this action also cleans the Rear View Camera lens.
-
Auto-Rear Wipe: If your front wipers are active and you shift into Reverse (R), your Volkswagen will automatically trigger the rear wiper to ensure a clear view while backing up.
🛠️ Maintenance: Wiper Service Position
To safely lift the wiper arms for cleaning or blade replacement, you must engage Service Position.
-
Via Infotainment: On the 2025–2026 Tiguan (MIB4 system), go to Vehicle > Exterior > Service and toggle Wiper Service Position.
-
Via Stalk: Alternatively, within 10 seconds of turning off the ignition, press the end of the wiper stalk or hold it down briefly. The wipers will move to a vertical position on the windshield.
